Untitled
Pink dawn is breaking over Cape Cod. This is taken from photograph I took of Emmy Robertson walking her dog at 4am. The rug uses hand-dyed all-wool fabrics.

The Dales' Rug Makers
The design is based on a photograph of local women making a rug: they are all sitting around one large stretcher frame. The original photo was taken in the 1960s.

A Guiding Light
My father became blind when I was 5 years old and we lived in Sunderland. I was his guide: we used to count the steps between the gas lamps so that he could memorize their positions and not bump into them. I hand-dyed all the woollen fabrics and used fine cut strips.

Our Swaledale Sheep
They are so distinctive with their white noses and black faces. This rug was made using old sweaters as well as actual sheep fleece.
